The events they sponsor throughout the year are all fundraisers for the OB Tree Committee. The OB Tree Committee sponsors the OB Food and Toy Drive that sponsors over 75 local families and seniors in need each year during the holiday season. The group assembles care packages and new gifts and toys for those in need of help during the holidays.
Join the Kiwanis for the 68th Annual OB Kite Festival at Dusty Rhodes Park. Prizes for best decorated kites, by age category. Spectacular kite flying demonstrations throughout the day. Carnival rides and a craft fair are also part of the event. This free family event is the oldest children’s kite festival in the United States, now celebrating its 68th year. This is a third-generation event; people who attended as children are now bringing their children and grandchildren. Youngsters are taught how to make kites; all materials are supplied. There are prizes for the best decorated kites. Any handmade kite can be submitted, not just kites made at the Festival. Entertainment and lunch are provided. Adding to the fun, families can go on carnival rides or browse for unique handicrafts at the craft fair.
Celebrate the fourth of July in Ocean Beach with a spectacular fireworks display off the OB Pier! Celebrate the official start of summer in Southern California by spending the day enjoying the many shops, restaurants and coffee shops in Downtown Ocean Beach We have free parking at our Main Beach Parking Lot as well as at our Pier Parking Lot. Spend the day picnicking with family and friends, swimming in the ocean, walking and playing in the sand and shopping along Newport Ave. Then bundle up as the sun sets and pull up a blanket for a really spectacular fireworks show from the OB Pier.

We typically have over 40 restaurants and local businesses participating. This is a great way to discover places in OB you may have never seen and to visit the places you already know and love.
